And excellent spork! ...O_o I think I skipped over this part when I originally read DH. I was too busy trying to get to the action.
The action known as "Camping Trip From Hell", that is. *snorts* So much for THAT one. *sighs* *laughs* I admit, I considered the Prince's Tale, NEVILLE THE PWNER OF ALL EVIL, and the Dumbledore backstory the high points of the book on my first runthrough.
The "OH FUCK, HE CAN STILL INFODUMP FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE?!!?!!?" scene annoyed me, not because it was RETURN OF TEH DUMBLES, but because I was honestly hoping that JKR had taken the shocker route, actually killed Harry, and the rest of the book would be Harry watching Neville and Co. PWN everything. Seriously. And then I thought it would be "SURPRISE! HARRY IS THE NEW DARK LORD!". Well, he was acting somewhat power-hungry, and he BOTH Cruciated Amycus and did the James Bond Villain speech to Voldemort. *sigh* I think my entrance into the HP fandom between HBP and DH convinced me that JKR would have some amazing twist at the end, and that she CERTAINLY wouldn't have Harry casting Unforgivables willy-nilly.
...*HEADLAPTOP* If there is ONE thing in all of the HP series that I will not ever forgive, it is the Crucio scene. Why? Because she VIOLATED HER _OWN_ MORAL STANDARDS BY DOING THAT, and called it BLOODY F***ING GALLANT. Imperio had light justification. CRUCIO HAD NONE WHATSOEVER. HE SHOULD NOT EVEN HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THAT BY HER _OWN_ CANON. DOESN'T SHE REALIZE THAT EVEN IN _FANFICTION_, the ONLY time that Harry uses Crucio apparently at random is when he's turned into a Dark!Harry Stu?
