All the characters seemed to be underused or shadows of their former selves.

My pet theory since OotP was that Tonks would pretend to be Harry and then die in his form, thus leading Voldemort into thinking he had won, so that they could attack him afterwards.

She doesn't even morph into Harry during the Seven Potters! Because apparently polyjuice lasts as long as you want it to and not just an hour. Ugh.

Agreed, I headdesk at all the things she says in the interviews. I really REALLY do not want to believe she's serious. Particularly the "I married Harry" and "Harry and Ginny are soulmates!" uttered almost in the same breath.

Honestly, I think that she really hurt herself for the last two books by being too secretive. I guess she thought if stuff were made more apparent beforehand people would lose interest. I honestly think that probably most of the appeal of the books for me was due to the fact I filled in all the gaps and hints she left with stuff that worked for me and ended up being much more logical than her own.

HBP and DH did NOT need to be as long as they were. They could have easily been trimmed, and I think she could have stuck both of them in a blender and divided them equally and made BETTER books. DH needed some down time that wasn't, to quote Erastes, "Boys Own Camping Adventure" in order to let the audience catch their breath between poorly constructed action sequences that seemed to be as haphazardly chained together as a child's necklace made of colored macaroni.

The story of the Hollows and the Horcruxes could have been intertwined and honestly, I feel like the Hollows didn't really need the attention they were paid. It's like we exchanged Hollows for Horcruxes for the last book. The parallel experience of finding out about Dumbledore and Riddle would have been fascinating, particularly if Riddle was not a born sociopath - but that's Rowling's Calvinism for you - as would the parallels between Snape, Harry, Dumbles and Voldemort as the four most notable half-bloods in the series.

But I think she was set on having so many books and limiting herself until the end. She should have started wrapping up side plots books ago, not making more :\ The sad thing is with a real editor and perhaps rereading her own books or at least looking at notes/the lexicon, she could have had a fabulous book series.

I look at POA and am astounded that DH was written by the same author. POA was so WELL plotted, there were so many things on so many levels going on that you could finish it and go back and SEE how things were going on from the multiple POVs.

DH reads like she wanted to finish the series and fence everything in the way she wanted. The new info book will hammer the final nail in the coffin.
