See? Rowling's word was never meant to be equalitarian, because this word is not even slang in her universe – it's the political correct term to a group of people. If you have a world where the good people consider the non-magical stupid, and the bad consider them, well, even more stupid and worthless, then the only difference between good guys and bad guys is the violence and the level of contempt.
It was ok when in the first book, kinda like those teenagers movies where all the adults are idiots. But now that the whole thing is supposed to sound epic and grand, we can’t help but notice that a) the good guys doesn’t give a damm about the muggle world they are supposedly defending and b) we could totally kick their asses. More people, better guns, you name it, we have it. That’s why they can’t risk open war ;)
