You do know that JKR has since this was written publicly acknowledged that Bumblebore is gay, and that Gellert Grindelwald was his only serious love (though it was Tragic and possibly Unrequited)?

I know. The fact that she didn't have the balls to put that in the book proper is just one more mark against her, as far as I'm concerned. It's not as if homosexuals and lesbians aren't characters in books for children and teens these days.

Nicolas Flamel was a historical figure (a real alchemist) and he lived in the Middle Ages and wrote a book in which he claimed to have created it THEN--long before Bumblebore was ever born.

Yes, I know. He's also a character in the first book (http://www.hp-lexicon.org/wizards/a-z/f.html#Flamel)--he and his wife are immortal then, because they're using the Elixir of Life made by the Philospher's Stone. I mentioned Dumbledore in connection with Flamel because Dumbledore's Chocolate Frog Card (http://www.hp-lexicon.org/wizards/dumbledore.html#Card) says that one of the things he's particularly famous for is "his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel."

And of course DD couldn't possibly have been creating the Philosopher's Stone with Flamel. Flamel created the Stone long before Bumblebore was born; he had to have, or he wouldn't have survived for six hundred years in the first place. I was just taking two pieces of canon and, y'know, joking.
